ANZ Data Center Study: End User Result Analysis

Analyst report by Forrester, published on 1/1/2011

The primary objective of this document is to provide a comprehensive background of Australia and New Zealand data center market dynamics. It provides an end user perspective to enable vendor strategists to address market opportunities and identify customer requirements more successfully. Following the global economic crisis, there has been some improvement in terms of IT spending in 2010, although IT budgets remain under heavy scrutiny. However, spending on data centers for 2011 in Australia and New Zealand should grow faster than overall IT spending, especially in the business and financial securities insurance (BFSI) and retail sectors. Organizations also expect to spend more on data center applications and tools as part of optimization, consolidation, and virtualization projects. Business continuity and disaster recovery and security will be an additional area of increased investments in 2011 in Australia and New Zealand. Australia and New Zealand organizations' maturity regarding virtualization, both server and storage, is much higher than in other Asia Pacific, excluding Japan (APEJ), regions. Outsourcing, cloud computing, remote delivery models, smart cooling technologies, and managed services within Australia and New Zealand are also discussed.
